Clothes Shopping Haul

Hey guys! It's been a very long time since I've blogged which I apologise for greatly. But I'm back!
So as it's that time of year when the seasonally trends are changing and everyones going back to school I've been buying some new clothes for the past 2 weeks and I thought it would be nice to show everyone what I'm wearing!

I've tried to make outfits from all of my new stuff so I'll be posting whole outfits at a time to save up on the pictures, so you may see some repeats of garments but that's because I didn't want to include sometimes I have thats old. If that makes sense? Anyway!

Relvon - Colorburst Lacquer | 105 Demire (review, swatch)

Hey lasses! Now I've got a few lip product reviews in the drafts, but I thought I'd start with this one. I've had this for a few months now and it's called "105 - Demure", which is from the Lacquer Balm line from Revlon. Now I'm not one for bright lip colours, I generally prefer the simple, natural lip look. Which I'm slowly getting out of, because lipstick is so beautiful as it can change your whole makeup look.

I'm literally in love with the metallic packaging, it's super cute and the colour is gorgeous. The product has a twist up mechanism, with a simple cap to product the nib of the product. The lid is very secure as it doesn't simple pull up.

Demure is a very cool toned pink with a silver shimmer/glitter running through it. As it's a lacquer balm, I wasn't expecting it to be opaque, but it is very sheer, even on my pale complexion. My lips aren't highly pigmented, but you can only slightly see there's something on my lips. But if you already have a dramatic eye look going on, you don't want busy lips. So this shade is perfect for giving your lips that dash of gloss and shimmer without counteracting your eyeshadow.
I take it that all the ladies with darker lips will have a much tougher time with this to get it to show up.

L-R: heavily swatched, one swipe

Overall

As you can see from my swatch on the lips this isn't overly pigmented. It's a sheer gloss with some shimmer. The silver glitter isn't over powering, making my lips look like a glitter ball but there's a fair amount for a good shine.

Unfortunately it doesn't last very long, as I got a few hours out of it. (2-3 hours) I know it's only a balm formula, but I did expect it to last much longer! So this will need to re-applied a few times to keep that glossy lip.

Overall I was a little bit disappointed in the outcome of this. When I swatched this in Superdrug I was wow'ed at how gorgeous it appeared on my hand, the perfect shimmer sheer lip. But it doesn't last long and it isn't really noticeable at all. I guess it depends on your skin tone and what you're looking for. If you looking for a very subtle glossy lip then this is perfect, but it does require some re-applying throughout the day.

Have you tried any of Revlon's Colorburst Laquacers? What's your favourite?

How To Do The Classic Winged Eyeliner!

Eyeliner used: Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner - Black

Hey guys! So my favourite look has to the big classic winged eyeliner look! It's so simple, yet super effective. By drawing this thick black line really opens your eye giving the illusion of a wide, more awake eye.
Now I know eyeliner isn't for everyone, but it all depends on the shape of the liner you choose for your eye shape. As you can see I have an almond shaped eye, so I do prefer to do a classic winged eyeliner look as it enhances my natural eye shape, while it gives me the effect of a larger, wider eye. Now I do have natural small eyes for my round face, I believe using this eyeliner method really helps me to achieve the correct eye size for my face. Also you'll notice my eyeball doesn't actually fit my eye shape as I have a slight gap at the outer corner of my eye, so I have no idea why I have an almond shaped eye, if my eye ball are round. (genetic fault? ahha)

Now if you know you've got an almond eye shape there are some useful tips to achieve the 'perfect' look for your eyes. The almond can be enhanced with the winged eyeliner, which is easy to do. A classic winged eye always starts off thin at the inner corner, gradually increasing in width as you reach the outer corner. But if you wish to make your eyes more rounder, then stop at step 2, but make sure the inner corner is very thin as it gradually gets bigger to thinner at the outer corner.

But how do I know if I'm an almond you're asking? If you don't know your correct eye shape, simply google "eye shape chart" and you'll find loads of examples of different shapes and you can just compare yours to theirs. By finding this out it will help you to achieve the perfect look to enhance your natural eye shape, so it doesn't look out of place.

Eyeliner can be tricky for a lot of people, as you need to have a super steady hand. But there are plenty of methods out there which can help you still achieve the perfect wing.

Tip: it your wing is a little bit wobbly, simply apply some makeup remover to a Q-tip and swipe it along your wing for that sharp line.

What Should You Use?

There are four main products which are typically used as eyeliner; pencil, kohl, liquid and gel. Depending on its texture, the product can be softly smudged or to sharply define.

Pencil: Used to give your eyes a soft definition with it's wax-base. Wax-based pencils are soft, which contain waxes for that smoother application. These pencils are available in a wide range of colours, from white to intense colours such as blue. Now I tend to avoid pencil as my eyeliner product due to how it can tug and pull on the lid, also it's extremely hard to create a precise line with this product because of the texture and formula.

Kohl: Can be used to create a smokey, smudged look. This soft pencil tends to be used in the waterline/tight line due to it's oily properties which helps it stay in place for longer. Whereas kohl can look messy as it smudges a lot if not applied correctly. I have little experience with this product, but I try to avoid smudgy formulas as I already have watery eyes which smudge any eyeliner anyway.
Now kohl pencils have been raising eyebrows due to it's levels of lead, so if you ever experience any itching, redness, pain or discomfort stop using it immediately.

Liquid: Used to create a sharp, precise line. With it's glossy opaque finish it can come in a small bottle or tube and is typically applied with a tiny brush or a felt applicator. This is my favourite method as it can still create that precise line, which is smudge-free (if you don't rub your eyes) and so easy to apply!

Gel: Used to create that matte, dark precise line. This is soft gel formula which is applied with a small precise brush. Now what I dislike about this method is how well is holds up, gel liner is so hard to remove which I really don't like. But if you don't mind scrubbing your eyes to get it off, then this is the most perfect method. It's soft formula helps the brush to glide along your eyelid, as it doesn't pull the lid, preventing that rough, jagged edge look.

I hope this helped you to create that perfect cat eye look, with an understanding of different products that can be used and eye shapes.

FIY: I used "Eyeko" Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black to create the winged liner look above.

Do you like eyeliner? What's your favourite product to use for your eyeliner?

Topshop - Lipstick | Mink (review, swatch)

Hey guys! So I've got another lipstick review you lot today, and it's the Tophop Lips in the shade "Mink." I bought this lipstick online, and I had never swatched it in-store so I had to go off of blog reviews, and swatches. (silly idea, but I needed to spend £5 for free shipping!) I was originally going to get "Pillow Talk" but for some reason I stumbled on to "Mink" and my mind was up. I don't know what sold me with this lipstick, the swatches just looked like that perfect nude, but with a bit of an edge to it.

Shopping Haul.

Hey guys! I'm super sorry about the lack of posting, but I've got a haul for you lot! So I went to my cousins baby shower yesterday (26th July) so I really needed a pair of white shoes to go with an outfit I had planned out. But of course I didn't just buy a pair of shoes, did it?! I'm sorry for the busy haul picture, but my bed sheets have been changed to a rowdy red parrot, and I have a tiny bedroom so that's the only space I have. (sorry..)

So what did I get?

Clyppi Toenail Clippers* (review)

So this post is going to be a little different from beauty product reviews, but it's crucial to maintain well groomed nails in my opinion. It's not a pleasant sight seeing overly long toe nails, but that's just me. So today I'm going to be reviewing the Clyppi Toenail Clippers! These can be found on Amazon for a really affordable price.

So I ordered these on Wednesday, and received them the following Tuesday. My Clyppi clippers were fulfilled and dispatched from Amazon which is awesome! If you've never bought from Amazon before, "fulfilled by Amazon" means that the product is found in an Amazon warehouse, and it's picked by Amazon workers. I always try and found items fulfilled by Amazon because I have trust in the well established company, and I know they're actually going to send my product, or refund me if somethings wrong. Whereas with independent sellers you have no relationship or background information for them, so you just have to bite the bullet and hope they're a legitimate company.

So what's the big deal?
